Velu has been elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly Thrice Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party candidate from Thandarambattu constituency, in 2001[1] and 2006.[2] He has subsequently been elected twice from the Tiruvannamalai constituency as a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in 2011[3] and 2016.[4]
Velu was born in Se. Gudalore on 15 March 1951.[5]
